Race Analysis
Former Rep. Jill Long Thompson faces an uphill battle against incumbent Gov. Mitch Daniels. Long Thompson faced an expensive and competitive primary, defeating Indianapolis architect Jim Schellinger by less than a point.
Daniels opened the general election campaign with a 10-1 cash advantage and favorable approval ratings, though not as high as some other governors running for re-election. Long Thompson has been endorsed by several labor unions, as well as EMILY\'s List, both of which should provide her with support.
Long Thompson served in Congress from a 1989 special election victory until losing a third bid for re-election in 1994. Most recently, Long Thompson lost a 2002 open House seat race to Chris Chocola.
