In an upset on June 24, Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani won the New York mayoral Democratic primary, making him the favorite to be the next New York mayor in the Nov. 4 election. While polls show him as a strong favorite, certain other candidates would still have a path to the mayorship if rivals were to leave the race. Here’s the breakdown.
Direction of the Country
In early June, the RealClearPolitics average reached a 15-year high, with 44% of Americans saying the United States was headed in the right direction. Since then, optimism has slipped slightly; the latest average shows 40.3% saying the country is on the right track, while 53.9% say it is headed in the wrong direction.
